Dr. Patrick Moore

Greenspirit founder and former environmental activist Dr. Patrick Moore embarked on a mission to save the planet in 1971 as a key member of Greenpeace. A scientist at heart, Dr. Patrick Moore obtained a Ph.D. in ecology from the University of British Columbia, where he became entrenched in the traditional ecological perspective that humanity is a part of nature. Greenpeace’s early successes in drawing public attention to environmental issues inspired a wave of membership, which attracted adherents to radical ideologies that Moore would eventually come to understand as anti-human and anti-science. With his worldview and his goals quickly diverging from Greenpeace’s, Dr. Patrick Moore parted ways with the organization in 1986 and devoted himself to the quest for a sustainable future. As environmentalist and business ideologues fall into politicization and name-calling, Dr. Patrick Moore offers a welcome, rational voice grounded in reality and the real purpose of ecology. Join us as we rethink environmentalism with the author of Confessions of a Greenpeace Dropout.

Good for Greenpeace that he dropped out.

More like, “Good for his conscience and integrity that he’s not with them anymore”.

Anti-ecology, anti-human environmental organizations are ridiculous.

This interview contains a large amount of disinformation and probably hurts the reputation of the site and your good work on climate. His assertion that the WHO is a trustworthy source is absurd as anyone who looks as far as wikiganda can discover. The WHO has an agreement with the International Atomic Energy Association, publicly available for all to see: “Whenever either organization proposes to initiate a programme or activity on a subject in which the other organization has or may have a substantial interest, the first party shall consult the other with a view to adjusting the matter by mutual agreement”

I can’t imagine that he is not aware of this unless he has not interest in the truth at all. Actually Chernobyl has killed over a million people, and Fukushima will be worse. He ignores the difference between internal emitters and background radiation- a classic industry trick; and his assertion that the waste from Fukushima will simply be buried in ocean sediment ignores bio-accumulation in fish which will soon make all ocean fish dangerous. Nuclear is both dangerous and expensive and could not exists without massive government subsidies and risks.

Just because someone is speaking the truth on climate does not mean that they are honest about everything.

If you really want to know the truth about the nuclear industry then go to http://fairewinds.org/. Or look at the work of Hellen Caldicott.

      Dear Seth,

Don’t worry about my reputation or that of this site. I have interviewed both Helen Caldicott and the founder of fairwinds.org. We have conversations with people that we both agree and disagree with and that is OK with me. Most information the public gets from news sources of all kinds, including from many of our most cherished universities and from agencies that pretend to protect us is false and misleading. Thank you for listening and commenting. We know you care and that always makes a difference!
