Dr. Terry Wahls

The phrase “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food” is attributed to Hippocrates. If he were alive today in a woman’s body, he would be Dr. Terry Wahls, a remarkable and courageous doctor who overcame multiple sclerosis after being wheelchair-bound with progressively declining health. Today, in the afterglow of an incredible recovery, Dr. Terry Wahls maintains a full-time practice, working with patients with brain injuries and psychiatric problems to achieve positive health benefits by altering their diets. Dr. Terry Wahls’ evidence-based discoveries are leading to greater insight using food as medicine, giving us a great deal of control over whether we get sick or not.

Dr. Terry Wahls is the author of Minding Your Mitochondria: How I Overcame Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Got Out of My Wheelchair and Food And Brain Health. The founder of The Terry Wahls Foundation, she is dedicated to conducting systems-based clinical trials to demonstrate her findings. Her TED Talk last year in Iowa City has been hugely popular, netting over 250,000 views to date.

This interview covers a wide array of subjects from the paleo diet, minerals, vitamins, disease prevention and recovery, the blood-brain barrier, the gut, mitochondrial health, molecule-to-molecule research, research funding, and the micronutrients the brain must be fed on a daily basis.

Some people talk the talk. This doctor walks the walk. Join us with Dr. Terry Wahls, a living testimonial that food is medicine.

I really appreciated Dr. Wahls interview and the story of her journey towards health. I have had a similar experince using “food as medicine” in an effort to control the inflamation related to my Lupus (SLE). I have not gone to the extent that Terry has, but I did see a naturopathic doctor and find out what foods I am intolerant too. By eliminating those I am able to avoid taking the standard medicinal cocktail. My next step is to purchase her book, since I think her research will help many people with a variety of chronic health problems. I’d like to take the next step towards healing the the root cause. I found her research regarding mitochondria fascinating and it makes sense. I was wondering if she has heard of or researched the results of NAET — a non-invasive allergy treat ment, developed by Dr. Nambudripad that basically helps to reset the body’s response to allergens — environmental, dietary, and emotional as well. I also was interested in her thoughts about vaccinations and the role they might be playing in our societies seeming increasein chronic illness. I agree that if we are going to “solve” health care in this country we need to address food ( and how we grow, produce etc), as well as water and the chemicals, such as flouride and chlorine that we put in it and our “preventitive” medicine — vaccinations. I just really found her to informative and refreshing to listen to and I’d love to hear if she has any thoughts on these matters. Thank you for bringing us these great guests and for highlighting these issues!
    Sincerely,
    Meg

You can find organic sulfur online. It works way better than the man made sulfur..
