Corinne Drewery and Kim Greenhouse in London

During my recent trip to Europe, one of my wishes came true: I finally got to interview Corinne Drewery, the lead singer of one of my favorite bands, Swing Out Sister. Swing Out Sister is a Grammy-nominated band with major hits that has sold millions of albums worldwide. For 25 years, they have toured the world performing music that touches the heart and makes people happy. To celebrate their 25th anniversary, Swing Out Sister has just released a brand new CD/DVD set called Private View. Although many of the band’s songs – including Breakout, Am I The Same Girl, and The Waiting Game – have been extremely popular, Corinne and her partner and bandmate Andy Connell have remained grounded, humble, and grateful for the opportunity to live a life many only dream of. They’ve also experienced something very few couples have: combining relationship and calling. In this interview, we explore Corinne’s relationship with Andy, the mystery of creativity, what it’s like to bridge relationship and calling, some of the highlights of Swing Out Sister’s musical career, living a balanced life between the studio and the stage, and the evolving relationship between songwriter and song. Join me with the very gracious Corinne Drewery live in London.

Great interview. Corinne is a great artist. Just talent-glore. I really like her laidback approach to life and to her relationships, and worldview. Yes, it is true that people are moved by Swing Out Sister’s music. Great stuff.

Fantastic interview ! A bit of fresh news about the new releases… Many people in the music business, consider SOS to be one of the very most creative and best groups ever !
Thanks for doing the interview ..

Hi!!! How are you?! I’m sooooooo happy to listen this interview!!! =D

I own a brazilian fan clube website about SOS… it’s pratically the things that has in the official website translated into Portuguese, for brazilians and people who speak Portuguese and can’t speak English… I’d like to ask if it is possible someone writes what is said in English (because it’s a bit difficult to me, even though I can understand what is said… I can’t recognise all words correctly, I just understand the context)… I’d like to translate into Portuguese, so brazilian fans can understand it… And it’s good to others who understand English, they’ll know your website! 😉

Is it possible? (feel free to answer me on my facebook)

Great interview, Kim! Can’t believe you were able to steal her away for an entire hour! Just another testament to her kindness and generosity. Hoping they will be coming to CA, again, or Nevada, during their upcoming US tour. I’ll be there!

I love Swing Out Sister! This interview is excellent and very personable. Thanks for such a rare, in-depth look at the construction of this exceptional group. Ms Drewery is simply charming and very honest about what true life expressions are about. Being true to one’s self is by far a very empowering condition…and she makes it seem so easy. She should be an inspiration to all artists.

Hi Corrine! How are you I am Dennis one of your million fan here in the Philippines. I will never forget your song YOU ON MY MIND for me that’s your best song and the best song I’ve ever heard though it became very popular in the Philippines in 1990, I am still playing it up to now. I am the type of person who always incorporate music with the events that happened at that specific point and time. And I can remember that song with good things that happened to me and luck that changed my life forever. MORE POWER TO YOU and please keep me posted.

Never found out in any of these interviews or bios about SOS if Corinne or Andy were ever married to each other…or to anybody else!

    • Kim Greenhouse Sep 25, 2013 @ 7:52

If you listened to this interview, Corinne said that she and Andy live together. If they were married, she would have said it.

What a great band.I remembered all my pals back in the 80’s giving me shit for being such a fan.I was a teenager then and Iron Maiden,Judas Priest was the main staple of the day. Then one day my girlfriend popped a SOS cassette into the deck of my stereo in my VW (man I miss that car/lol) and that voice hooked me..Great group, great harmony..I can remember with fond memories of my now 25 year old daughter dancing to breakout as a toddler; now that I’m in my early 50’s I can say I’ve kinda matured with them..Was and always will be a fan !!!!
