So many of us believe that the people we admire, respect, and trust — public figures or “Official Authorities” on a subject — are accurate simply because of who they are, and that questioning them becomes a kind of forbidden zone. It happens at a subconscious level, and it happens to all of us, myself included. In my latest newsletter, I dig into a real moment from my interview with CIA whistleblower John Kiriakou — and what it reveals about how easily someone can come across as credible and in the know, while actually being neither.
